The Lickey Incline, south of Birmingham, is the steepest sustained main-line railway incline in Great Britain. The climb is a gradient of 1 in (% or ‰ or °) for a continuous distance of two miles ( km).
It is located on the Cross Country Route between Barnt Green and Bromsgrove stations in. Mar 28, · After decades of delays and promises the proposed electrification of the Lickey Incline and much vaunted new station at Bromsgrove are emerging with some knock-on effects.
Firstly, two-thirds up the incline there is a dirt-track / viewing area adjacent to the line at Vigo. This area will become fenced and gated by NR.What an extensive site it was.
